BISMARCK, N.D. - Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC) awards for five projects. The awards totaling $338,370 were approved at the APUC quarterly meeting July 19-20 in Medora.

APUC is a program of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture that administers grant programs for research and development of new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products which support the development of concepts and products that support our rural communities and agriculture operations. The grants can be used for basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, farm diversification, nature-based agritourism, prototype and technology and technical assistance.

The following received approval:

Buckshot Seeds LLC was awarded $120,000 for a feasibility study for an oilseed crushing plant to be located in western North Dakota. Contact Mark Erickson at 701-440-1621.

Hemp Industries LLC was awarded $48,000 for a business plan and feasibility study for an industrial hemp receiving and processing facility. Contact Amanda Jelinek at 701-212-0732.

Pumpkins Pets and Pals LLC was awarded $51,620 to establish a pumpkin patch with various other activities in southwest North Dakota. Contact Crystal Sonsolla at 701-425-6969.

Sundale Hutterian Brethren Association was awarded $18,750 to establish a swine finishing facility. Contact James Hofer at 701-501-9268.

APUC will hold its next grant application hearing on Nov. 15-16, 2023, in Devils Lake. Applications for the November meeting must be received by Oct. 1, 2023.
